“When did life turn so monochrome?” I wonder to myself, staring at an endless blue sky.
I feel my heels sinking in the sand as slowly the noise around me comes back to me. It floods me with a wave of melancholy, a sad reminder of my place in this world and the state of my heart. For so long, it has been yearning for you, your presence, but more importantly, your attention and appreciation, whoever you might be.
I sit up straight, my feet still submerged in the sea of white sand. My vision is met by a bright sun, shining a light on the days of others, but never on me. My hands fold backwards and carry the weight of my upper body as I manage to fully pull myself up. Up in the distance, I see joy, friendships being formed, memories being made, relationships being engraved with a golden seal. I see the waves crashing down upon the sand, but it symbolizes the opposite, ain’t that peculiar?

I look around, actively searching for my inevitable serendipity. My eyes meeting yours, your smile, enamouring my heart up to the brim with that sweet feeling.
I actively smile, thinking about that encounter, yet as, up in the distance, I see my friends turning back towards me, reality gains its grip on me again.

I lay back down, my hands supporting the back of my head as I let go of my worries. My mind is still filled with thoughts and my face still filled with a wistful expression. “Maybe, some other day, my time will come”
